At Floyd Hunter Injury Law, we’re dedicated to fighting for your rights if you’ve suffered any kind of personal injury due to the carelessness of someone else. Montgomery and the River Region are our home, and we want to make sure our community gets the proper representation it deserves.
You’ve probably seen us around as Those Thumbs Up Guys®. We want you to feel safe and that you can trust us. Understanding the legal process after a personal injury can be overwhelming, but you shouldn’t have to worry. When you contact us, we’ll take care of all the hard parts for you.
Attorneys Steve Floyd, Jeff Hunter, and Mike White established Floyd Hunter Injury Law in 2017 after spending years working in Alabama’s legal system. We shared a goal: build a firm where injured people could work directly with experienced lawyers who’d take their concerns personally.
That experience includes seeing injury claims from both sides. Before representing injured people, Jeff spent 14 years at an insurance defense firm in Montgomery. He tried cases in Alabama state and federal courts and learned how insurance companies evaluate, defend, and try claims. Mike also spent 18 years as an insurance defense attorney before switching to representing the rights of injured persons and tried dozens of cases all over the state.
Today, that background helps our team spot the arguments an insurance company may make before it makes them. We know preparation matters. So does patience, especially when the other side is hoping you’ll accept less just to get the case over with.
See What Our Clients Say About Us
What It Means to Be Those Thumbs Up Guys®
The thumbs-up means, “We’ve got this.” When you’ve been injured, you can put the responsibility of moving your claim forward on our shoulders while you focus on your health, your family, and getting some normalcy back in your life.
That doesn’t mean we can promise how a case will end. No honest lawyer can. It means we can promise to show up, do the work, and give you straight answers about where things stand.
The Thumbs Up Commitment
- We’ll listen first: Your case starts with your story. We want to understand what happened, how you’ve been hurt, and what the accident has changed for you.
- We’ll give you honest answers: We’ll explain what we know, what still needs to be investigated, and what options may be available.
- We’ll keep you informed: We respond when questions come up, and we’ll contact you about any case updates you need to know about.
- We’ll take your questions seriously: Injury claims can be confusing. Our team takes the time to explain what’s happening, even when a client has a lot of questions.
- We’ll be accessible: We believe in keeping an open line of communication. You can contact us at any time, and someone from our team will answer.
- We’ll take on the legal pressure: We can gather evidence, deal with insurance companies, calculate your losses, and handle the day-to-day work involved in pursuing your claim.
- We’ll prepare for the hard cases: Some claims can be resolved through negotiation. Others may require a lawsuit. We prepare each case based on its facts and what the client needs.
- We’ll treat your recovery like it matters: Our job isn’t to rush you into the first offer. We work to understand what your injury has cost you and what you may need later.
- We’ll deal with the insurance company: Clients appreciate being able to focus on treatment while our team handles calls, negotiations, and other parts of the claim.
Making Injury Law Personal

There is no easy universal approach to personal injury cases. Every individual case is unique in its own way, and that means it will have to be handled in a unique way. That’s why we take a personal approach with all of our clients’ cases. No matter the details of your case, rest assured that we’ll hone in on the specific facts from beginning to end during our evaluation.
That’s why we start by getting to know the person, not just reading an accident report. We need to understand what life looked like before the injury and what’s harder now.

What Is It Like to Work With Floyd Hunter Injury Law?
When you work with Floyd Hunter Injury Law, you won’t be left wondering what’s happening with your case. We’ll explain each step, keep you informed about important developments, and make it easy for you to stay involved. Your main job is to take care of yourself. We’ll handle the paperwork, insurance companies, deadlines, and other legal work.
1. We Listen to What Happened
Your case begins with a free consultation. We’ll listen to your story, ask questions about the accident and your injuries, and explain whether we may be able to help. There’s no obligation or pressure to hire us.
2. We Investigate and Build Your Case
If we take your case, our team will begin gathering the available evidence. Depending on what happened, this may include accident reports, photographs, videos, witness statements, medical records, employment information, and insurance documents.
For more complicated cases, like trucking accidents, we retain accident reconstruction specialists who can respond quickly before the other party can get their investigators on the scene.
3. We Document How the Injury Has Affected You
A serious injury can affect your health, work, family, and independence. We’ll work to document your medical expenses, lost income, pain, limitations, and any treatment or care you may need in the future. Photographs of your particular injuries, such as lacerations, bruising, or broken bones, can be especially valuable evidence for your case.
4. We Deal With the Insurance Companies
We’ll notify the appropriate insurance companies, handle their questions, and respond when they challenge your claim. You won’t have to manage adjusters, paperwork, and settlement discussions on your own.
Our experience working as insurance defence lawyers gives us insight into how insurance companies value and devalue a claim. We know the right phrases to say, the items to present, and the mistakes to avoid so we can maximize what you can recover.
5. We Keep You Informed
Our team will update you as your case moves forward and explain important decisions in plain language. You’ll know where your case stands, what we’re doing, and what we need from you. You can contact us at any time, and we’ll be there for you.
You’ll also get to know our claims managers as they give you updates and collect information from you. Our team of attorneys is readily and personally available to answer any legal questions that may come up.
6. We Fight for a Fair Resolution
When we understand the full extent of your losses, we can pursue a settlement that reflects what the injury has cost you. If the insurance company won’t make a reasonable offer, we can discuss filing a lawsuit and taking the next steps together.
That’s what we mean when we call ourselves Those Thumbs Up Guys®. We put the weight of a claim on our shoulders so you can focus on what matters most.

How Do Floyd Hunter’s Lawyer Fees Work?
Many people hesitate to call a lawyer because they’re worried about the cost. At Floyd Hunter Injury Law, your initial consultation and case review are free. There’s no obligation or pressure to hire us, and you won’t pay any attorney’s fees upfront. We work on a contingency-fee basis, which means our fee comes from the compensation we recover for you.
- Your consultation is free: You can tell us what happened and learn about your options without paying for a case review.
- You won’t pay an attorney’s fee upfront: You don’t have to pay us out of pocket to begin your case.
- You won’t owe us an attorney’s fee unless we win: We’re paid only if we recover compensation for you.
- Fair and clear fee structure: Our fee is never more than the amount of money you put in your pocket or take home. That’s not a promise most other plaintiff firms are willing to make. Our fee starts at 33.3% and increases to 40% only if entering litigation becomes necessary.
- We explain the terms before you hire us: Your written agreement will state the fee percentage and explain how costs for filing fees, medical records, depositions, professional witnesses, and other case expenses will be handled.
